what can i use to seal a cedar deck post in contact with soil?
I have cedar deck post which are in contact with soil about 3 inches? Can i use something like tar to permenently seal them and cover with dirt?
Cedar is a very rot resistant wood, but it wouldn’t hurt to use creosote like the power company uses on their wooden transmission poles. I believe Home Depot or Lowes carries it, if not a paint or hardware store does.
