Lawn Care in North Carolina
Lawn care in North Carolina?

We just bought a house and the lawn is not horrible but needs definite work. Clover, dandelions, uneven grasses, bald spots and the like. We want thick, lush grass of course. What’s the plan of action for this climate?

You are fortunate to have a pretty good bulletin group from your cooperative extension service: http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/Publications/lawngarden.php

Scroll down to the lawn care section and click on some of those publications.

Generally, if your lawn area is almost all grass, then you manage towards improving the grass health and let it fill in naturally. You fertilize properly, mow correctly and manage the weeds. I wouldn’t consider clover bad until you get the rest of the lawn in shape and then can work on the clover.

If there is less % lawn, then you can reseed or resod those areas as needed.

I’m a bit worried about your “thick, lush, grass” concept. Due to the recent drought, emphasis has been taken away from super thick lawns especially since they require more water. You may find yourself up against the “water cops” in your pursuit.

Still you can have an acceptable lawn thru good lawn management basics, proper soil aeration, thatch removal only when necessary, correct fertilizing and mowing higher than you probably have in the past. Longer grass blades shade the soil reducing evaporation plus the longer the blade, the deeper the root penetration.

The only way to ensure a healthy, vibrant lawn and landscape is water. It makes sense to install an automatic sprinkler system.

Due they used to teach turf grass management and ornamental plants at the University for many years, I felt I could offer to customers better quality product, with better installation procedures while giving customers personal attention, a fair and reasonable price than existing businesses.

In 1990, I decided to team up with my grandson, Jason Cecil, to build a family business in the construction of the landscape. Since there are not many companies qualified sprinkler out there, we took ourselves to learn to install systems for our customers.

In the beginning we were mainly doing the work service, but we became very good and the direction of our business began to change.

The service is the foundation upon which we built our company. Having service technicians on duty full time, allows us to stay on top of the systems we install, and weak service systems installed by other contractors. We ensure reliable and efficient performance after year for services to our customers appropriately.

Because we were so many requests for systems irrigation decided to focus on being the best sprinkler company in Charlotte, North Carolina and Rock Hill, South Carolina area. In 1998, our company renamed the South spray and are committed to providing our customers a quality product with unsurpassed service. And for those who had systems installed by others, which began providing repair services on all models. The growth in Charlotte and surrounding areas has created the need for water conservation. The procedures proper installation are essential for water conservation so that there is plenty of water for everyone to have a green yard. What helps us do a quality job is the fact that we use the best materials with the best installation procedures. More information by using our in-house teams, trained and trained technicians who know how efficient the system will run and how beautiful the grass is even before you start. One of our managers who inspects the work of our staff in each job. The administrator will make the necessary adjustments and show our customers to use its new system. In southern sprinkler we like to spend a little time more with clients, showing exactly what is and what you get for your money. All our new installations are backed by our exclusive lifetime warranty. This warranty transfers when our clients sell their home.

Our company, South Sprinklers, not a profit center for us. It's just another way to help our clients achieve what they want and deserve for your home and family.
